Das Album wurde von Steve Sholes über drei Sessions im Brown Radio Productions Studio in Nashville 1952 und einige Sessions im Folgejahr im RCA Victor Studio 2 in New York produziert. Das erste, was man sagen kann, ist, dass es sich hierbei nicht um ein Country-Album handelt.
Es ist Pop. und Jazz mit Covers von Irving Berlin bis Benny Goodman, und zweifellos deshalb hat RCA wenig getan, um das Album auf seiner Veröffentlichung zu promoten, was zu seiner Seltenheit geführt hat. Niemand wird von Chets Fähigkeit überrascht sein, in diesem swingenden Jazz-Stil zu spielen, aber Fans des Cornball-Duos Homer & Jethro könnten es schwerer haben, es zu verstehen. Im späteren Leben interviewt, war Chet selbst kritisch gegenüber seinem eigenen Spiel, aber er klingt für mich ziemlich gut. Ich kann hier nicht ehrlich sitzen und sagen, dass ich ein großer Fan des Albums bin und es wird nicht viel in den Weg kommen, um Wiederholungsspiele zu machen, aber man kann nur das komplizierte Musikangebot bewundern. Die Aufgeschlosseneren unter Ihnen und zweifellos auch die Musiker werden hier viel zu genießen finden.
Zurücklehnend und fast wie auf der Veranda, wenn das Haus die Prager Oper wäre, ist das Spiel zart, knackig und manchmal inspirierend. Wenn diese zehnteilige Neuauflage Ihre Tasche ist, hat Bear Family Anfang der 90er Jahre eine CD mit zusätzlichen Tracks herausgebracht, die treffend Jazz From The Hills" genannt wird. EMMA & THE RAGMEN Headin' Out Country / Mr. Jones / I'm Ready Rampage RR-19-20 Der Backkatalog von Rampage Records enthält Veröffentlichungen von Mons Wheeler und Keith Turner sowie ein Album von Emma & The Ragmen aus dem Jahr 2017. Diese neue Version enthält zwei Originale und ein Cover und alle drei Tracks sind knallharte Nummern. Die Oberseite ist ein knurrender Rocker mit großartiger stechender Gitarre, exzellentem Gesang von Emma und einem eingängigen Chorus. Mr. Jones' ist ein fleischiges Instrumental mit starker Gitarre und Schlagzeug.
Die Sturmhülle von Fats' I'm Ready' hat den Zusatz eines Saxophons, vermutlich Kenny Tomlinson, aber die Grundverpackung hat keine Sitzungsdetails. Der Gesang ist solide und mit zwei heißen Saxophon- und Gitarrensoli ist er ein weiterer Gewinner. Dies ist eine knackende Single, die leicht zu empfehlen ist.

The first thing to say is, this is not a country album.
It's pop and jazz with covers from Irving Berlin to Benny Goodman, and it was no doubt because of this that RCA did little to promote the album on its release, which has therefore resulted in its rarity. No one will be surprised by Chet's ability to play in this swinging jazz style, but fans of the cornball duo Homer & Jethro might find it harder to comprehend. Interviewed in later life, Chet himself was critical of his own playing, but he sounds pretty good to me. I can't honestly sit here and say that I'm a big fan of the album and it won't get much in the way of repeat plays, but you can only admire the intricate musicianship on offer. The more broadminded amongst you and, no doubt, musicians, will find lots to enjoy here.
Laid back and almost like front-porch picking if the house was the Prague Opera House, the playing is delicate, crisp and at times inspiring. If this ten-track reissue is your bag, Bear Family brought out a CD in the early '90s with additional tracks, appropriately called 'Jazz From The Hills'. This new release features two originals and a cover and all three tracks are hard-hitting numbers. The top side is a growling rocker with great stinging guitar, excellent vocals from Emma and a catchy chorus. 'Mr Jones' is a meaty instrumental with strong guitar and drums.
The storming cover of Fats' I'm Ready' has the addition of a sax, presumably Kenny Tomlinson, but the basic packaging has no session details. The vocals are solid and with two hot sax and guitar solos it's another winner. This is a cracking single that is easy to recommend.
