Bear Family Die Zusammenstellungen kommen immer wieder von Bear Family, das ist ein ähnliches Konzept, wenn auch im CD-Format wie das für den Grammy nominierte Korean War thematische Box-Set des Labels. Wie der Titel andeutet, feiert diese Zusammenstellung den 50. Jahrestag der Mondlandungen.
Die Trackliste in einem eklektischen Mix aus Musikstilen, die von der Rock n Roll-Ära dominiert werden. Den Rahmen bildet eine Aufnahme einer faszinierenden Rede von J. F. K. aus dem Jahr 1962, in der Pläne skizziert werden, bis zum Ende des Jahrzehnts einen Mann zum Mond zu bringen, so dass Neil Armstrongs Clip "One Small Step" ebenfalls extra pointiert enthalten ist.
Es gibt einige echte musikalische Raritäten, die sich zwischen den bekannteren Tracks einkuscheln, wobei der Belgier Johnny Kay's'Rocket To The Moon' bemerkenswert ist. Linksfeldeinschlüsse sind das Les Baxter Orchestra und die russische Band The Spotnicks zusammen mit US-Pop, von deren Existenz man vielleicht nie wissen würde, wenn sie nicht alle einbezogen worden wären, die in den 1950er Jahren mit Rock n Roll-Strecken auf den Schultern gerieben wurden, aber einfach nicht von den coolen Kids gekauft wurden.
Sie werden es vielleicht ein wenig satt haben, die Worte Moon und Rocket am Ende dieses Abschnitts zu hören, aber es ist eine spannende Reise und ein würdiges historisches Dokument.

Bear Family The compilations keep coming from Bear Family, this is a similar concept, though in CD format to the label's Grammy nominated Korean War themed box-set. As the title alludes, this compilation celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Moon landings.
The track list in an eclectic mix of musical styles dominated by the rock n roll era. Setting the scene there's a recording of a fascinating speech from J F K made in 1962 outlining plans to get a man to the Moon by the end of the decade, making Neil Armstrong's 'One Small Step' clip also included, extra poignant.
There are some real musical rarities nestling amongst the better-known tracks, Belgian Johnny Kay's 'Rocket To The Moon' being a notable. Left-field inclusions are the Les Baxter Orchestra and Russian band The Spotnicks along with some US pop that you might never knew existed had they not been included all of which were rubbed shoulders with rock n roll tracks in the 1950s but just not bought by the cool kids.
You might get a bit fed up of hearing the words Moon and Rocket by the end of this comp but it's a cracking journey and a worthy historical document.
