Einen Song auf einem Album von Elvis Presley unterzubringen, damit konnte man in der Hoch-Zeit des King Of Rock'n'Roll ausgesorgt haben. Neben Material für seine regulären Platten benötigte Presleys Team auch immer wieder Lieder für die zahlreichen Soundtrackalben, wichtig dabei, dass die eingespielten Demos schon gleich in die passende Richtung gingen. Songwriter Randy Starr spezialisierte sich Anfang der 60er Jahre darauf, seine Stücke mit voller Band und, falls notwendig, mit Orchester einzuspielen, verpflichtete dazu noch Presley-like agierende Sänger wie Kenny Karen, Malcolm Dodds und Bernie Knee, um ein möglichst authentisches Abbild zu präsentieren.
Ein Aufwand, der sich lohnte, insgesamt zwölf seiner Kompositionen wurden von Presley für seine Soundtrackalben aus-gewählt. Nach der ersten Auflage (siehe GT 2/2024) liefert PRESLEY STYLE VOL. 2 nun weitere 31 dieser Demos, im klasse bebilderten, 34-seitigen Booklet geht Trevor Simpson, britischer Elvis-Spezialist und jahrelang in engem Kontakt zum Anfang 2024 verstorbenen Starr, ausführlich auf jeden einzelnen Song ein.

Getting a song on an Elvis Presley album could have provided a comfortable living during the King of Rock'n'Roll's heyday. In addition to material for his regular records, Presley's team also needed songs for the numerous soundtrack albums, and it was important that the demos they received were already in the right direction. In the early 60s, songwriter Randy Starr specialized in recording his pieces with a full band and, if necessary, with an orchestra, and he also engaged singers like Kenny Karen, Malcolm Dodds and Bernie Knee, who would perform in a Presley-like manner, in order to present an authentic image.
It was an effort that paid off: Presley selected a total of twelve of Starr's compositions for his soundtrack albums. Following the first edition (see GT 2/2024), PRESLEY STYLE VOL. 2 now delivers another 31 of these demos, with British Elvis specialist Trevor Simpson, who was in close contact with Starr, who died in early 2024, for many years, providing detailed insights into each song in a beautifully illustrated, 34-page booklet.

Il était important que les démos enregistrées aillent déjà dans la bonne direction. Au début des années 60, le compositeur Randy Starr s'est spécialisé dans l'enregistrement de ses morceaux avec un groupe complet et, si nécessaire, avec un orchestre. Il a également engagé des chanteurs à la Presley, comme Kenny Karen, Malcolm Dodds et Bernie Knee, afin de présenter une image aussi authentique que possible.
Un effort qui a porté ses fruits, puisque Presley a choisi douze de ses compositions pour ses albums de bandes originales.
