Das ist es, Daddy-o, das Album von 1998, das das ganze Swing-Revival der späten 90er Jahre ausgelöst hat! Und es ist zum ersten Mal in Vinyl gekleidet... durchsichtiges Vinyl mit roten und gelben Wirbeln, um genau zu sein!

Big Bad Voodoo Daddys erster großer Durchbruch kam, als drei ihrer Songs in dem erfolgreichen Indie-Film Swingers von 1996 zu hören waren (und die Band einen Live-Auftritt mit ihrem Song "You & Me & the Bottle Makes 3 Tonight (Baby)" hatte). Bald darauf wurde die Band von Interscope unter Vertrag genommen (gefolgt von einem Auftritt in der Halbzeitpause des Super Bowl), und das Top-50-Album Big Bad Voodoo Daddy (auch bekannt als Americana Deluxe) war ihr Debüt bei diesem Label.

Songs wie "Go Daddy-O" und "Mr. Pinstripe Suit" machen Lust, den Packard aufzutanken und im Secondhand-Laden nach Zoot-Suits zu suchen, während Slow-Burners wie "Please Baby" das Nachdenken über die Olive in deinem Cocktail zu einer existenziellen Übung machen. Ein Wort der Warnung: Ziehen Sie bequeme Schuhe an, wenn Sie diese Platte hören, denn Sie werden bis in die frühen Morgenstunden Lindy-Hopping und Mambo tanzen.
