Since 1975 we have been supplying you with the finest and
latest in Country, Rockabilly, Folk, and even more American
andEuropean rootsmusic.Weareawareof the fact that you,
our valid customers, have been collecting and appreciating
our printed catalogs, ever since. In many music collectors'
household, Bear Family catalogs are regarded important
sources of information with the value of a music
encyclopedia.
We appreciate your loyalty and your close ties to our
company. Without you and your fellow collectors, our work
would have been pointless.
The expectations of today's customers are different. They are used to order online, and
they are expecting us tooffer newdeals and new releases, every day.Of course a timely
delivery is also important. Hardly one of our customers is willing to wait for twomonths
to receive a new catalog. The majority of our customers are accustomed to regularly
order over the internet. They order from the source with the fastest service and the
cheapest prices.Most collectors didnot wait for our cataloganymore, but they ordered
the products elsewhere. Therefore, we had to keep up with the times and expand our
online offer.
As we count ourselves to a generation that likes to browse through catalogs to discover
something special and - if the curiosity was aroused - to order that product, we can see
the disappointment especially amongst our loyal older customers. Unfortunately, we
see no way to offset the cost of the catalogs.
But there is some good news. About six times a year wewill mail-out a 48-page booklet
with current releases and special offers. Also, we will mail-out about as many
newsletter covering the new releases that just arrived. Of course, these brochures
cannot replace a mail-order catalog, but they at least offer the possibility to obtain the
latest information.
We understand your disappointment. At the moment we do not see a reasonable way
to continue sending catalogs. We're very sorry, but a mail-order catalog of prominent
size will most likely never be printed again at Bear Family's.
