Zwei CD-Sets. In seiner 50-jährigen Amtszeit als Dirigent der Boston Pops verwandelte Arthur Fiedler den Ableger des Boston Symphony Orchestra in das vielleicht renommierteste Pop-Orchester der Welt. Er nahm die Musik der Beatles in seine Programme auf und begründete die Tradition des Pops-Konzerts und des Feuerwerks an jedem 4. Juli auf der Esplanade in Boston.
Neben dem 4. Juli gibt es noch einen weiteren Feiertag, der eng mit Fiedler und den Pops verbunden ist: Weihnachten! Das Orchester stellte 1948 Leroy Andersons mittlerweile klassischen "Sleigh Ride" vor und nahm ihn im folgenden Jahr für RCA Victor auf. Diese allererste Aufnahme, die schockierenderweise noch nie auf CD veröffentlicht wurde, eröffnet Real Gone Music und Second Disc Records die definitive Feier der Weihnachtsaufnahmen von Arthur Fiedler und The Boston Pops.
