Geboren am 20. 1. 1933 in Oklahoma City. Studierte in Kansas City und Chicago Musik. Er beherrschte Orgel, Klavier, Trompete sowie Schlagzeug und wurde 1957 in den USA von Decca unter Vertrag genommen. Gleich seine erste Veröffentlichung, 'The End', war ein Hit. Grant, der in US-Spielfilmen wie ''Imitation Of Life' ('Solange es Menschen gibt', 1959) und “Tender Is The Night' ('Zärtlich ist die Nacht', 1961) mitwirkte, kam danach mit seinem eher weichlichen Easy-Listening-Stil nicht mehr so gut an. Den deutschen Text sang er am 1. 11. 1958 in den Decca-Studios in Hollywood auf ein Playback vom 4. 4. 1958, an dem Grant auch als Organist mitgewirkt hatte. Nach einem Auftritt im La Fiesta Club im mexikanischen Juarez am 10. 6. 1970 wurde er bei einem Autounfall in Lordsburg (New Mexico) schwer verletzt und verstarb am folgenden Tag. Dass, wie gleich mehrere Quellen behaupten, Earl Grant im Zweiten Weltkrieg als musizierender 'Truppenbetreuer' bzw. als 'Nachtclubsänger' tätig gewesen ist, darf bezweifelt werden, da dies im Alter zwischen 6 und 12 Jahren geschehen sein müsste.
