Das Jewell Gospel Trio war für seine faszinierenden Auftritte bekannt und stand von 1955 bis 1958 auf der Liste von Nashboro Records.

Das Gruppenmitglied Canzietta Staton wurde später zum Soul-Star Candi Staton. Ihre meistgeschätzten Aufnahmen entstanden 1969-1971 für das Label Fame. Die Gospel-Historikerin Opal Nations erzählt in den CD-Notizen Maggie Staton-Peebles' Memoiren "Before Their Time", einen detaillierten Einblick in die Erziehung der Schwestern in der Kirche des lebendigen Gottes.

Die Nashboro-Tracks werden durch vier bluesige Gospel-Ausflüge von Shirley Ann Lee aus den Jahren 1968-1971 ergänzt.
