Das erste Album dieser Sammlung, "Home To You" (1999), wurde von Garth Fundis produziert, der sich bereits durch seine Arbeit mit Trisha Yearwood, Keith Whitley und Don Williams einen Namen gemacht hatte. Das Album wurde für seine kraftvollen Balladen gelobt, ein Bereich der Musik, der zu Montgomerys Stärke wurde.

Brand New Me" (2000) erreichte Platz 2 in den Albumcharts und enthält die Nummer-1-Single "The Little Girl". John Michael Montgomery produzierte dieses Album zusammen mit Buddy Cannon und Norro Wilson.

Zwei Jahre später veröffentlichte Warner Bros, die Muttergesellschaft von Atlantic Records, sein Album "Pictures", das von ihm und Scott Hendricks koproduziert wurde. Ein Rezensent kritisierte, dass seine Lieder "wie eine sanfte Sommerbrise" vorbeiziehen.

Letters From Home" wurde von Montgomery und Byron Gallimore koproduziert und hielt sich 22 Wochen lang in den Charts und erreichte schließlich Platz 3. Der Titelsong reflektiert die Tragödie des 11. Septembers und erreichte Platz 2 in den Single-Charts.
