The Rockfords könnte man als Supergruppe aus Seattle bezeichnen, aber eigentlich war die Band eine Wiedervereinigung; Chris Friel und Danny Newcomb von der Band Goodness und Rick Friel von Jody Watts waren Mitte der 80er Jahre mit Mike McCready von Pearl Jam in einer Band namens Shadow; Ende der 90er Jahre formierten sie sich neu und fügten Goodness-Sängerin Carrie Akre unter dem Namen The Rockfords hinzu (benannt nach McCreadys Lieblingsfernsehserie The Rockford Files). Gemeinsam brachten sie 2000 ein selbstbetiteltes Album für Epic heraus, das von John Goodmanson (Bikini Kill, Sleater-Kinney, Death Cab for Cutie) produziert wurde und bei dem Nancy Wilson von Heart den Song "Riverwide" sang; die Platte wurde von der Kritik gelobt, aber die Band kehrte zu ihren "Tagesjobs" zurück, bevor sie eine selbstveröffentlichte EP namens Waiting aufnahm, die ebenfalls von Goodmanson produziert und 2004 veröffentlicht wurde. Die 2-LP-Veröffentlichung von Real Gone Music (in Cherry Wax) enthält sowohl die selbstbetitelte LP als auch die EP, die beide noch nie auf Vinyl erschienen sind, in einer hübschen Gatefold-Verpackung. Limitiert auf 2200 Exemplare!
