Raymond Scott ist vor allem als Komponist berühmter Melodien bekannt, die in Cartoons von Warner Bros. auftauchen. In den späten dreißiger Jahren war sein gefeiertes Raymond-Scott-Quintett ein großer kommerzieller Erfolg, ein einzigartiges Ensemble, das einen einzigartigen und unverwechselbaren Jazzstil voller Launen und Bravour spielt. Ende der vierziger Jahre war er zu einem Pionier der elektronischen Musik geworden, sowohl als Erfinder als auch als Komponist von Instrumenten. Seine Musik ist heute überall zu hören, nicht nur in Cartoons. Zum Beispiel sampelt Lizzos jüngster Hit "Tempo" (Schlucke aus?) sein "Nescafe", und er ist in der jüngsten Netflix-Hitsendung Hollywood zu hören.

Das verlorene Kapitel zwischen dem Quintett und seiner elektronischen Musik war ebenso fesselnd, beginnend mit der ersten multirassischen Radio-Bigband - zu deren Reihen die Legenden Ben Webster, Cozy Cole und Charlie Shavers gehörten. Diese Einheit schwang nicht nur hart, sondern konnte auch die komplizierten Passagen ausführen, für die er so berühmt war.

Hemidemisemiquaver: Buried Treasures of the Raymond Scott Big Band sammelt 26 aufregende Schnitte, größtenteils unveröffentlichte Radiosendungen, die von Scott selbst aufgenommen und von Gavin Ross im Steady Studio in Burbank, CA, restauriert wurden. Das Paket enthält Fotos aus dem Archiv der Familie Scott und umfangreiche Liner Notes aus der Feder des Scott-Spezialisten Skip Heller, der diesen Band zusammen mit Scotts Sohn Stan Warnow koproduziert hat.
