Betty St. Claire (1927-1972) galt als eine echte Entdeckung, als sie ihr professionelles Debüt im Detroiter Club Congo gab. Später arbeitete sie mit Dizzy Gillespie, Erroll Garner und Howard McGhee zusammen, doch ihre Karriere endete 1960 nach der Veröffentlichung des hier vorliegenden Albums.

Obwohl ursprünglich als Live-Aufnahme aus dem Basin Street Club beworben, wurde die Musik für Like Someone In Love in einem Studio aufgenommen. Unterstützt wird St. Claire von einem Quartett mit Mundell Lowe, George Duvivier und Ed Shaughnessy.
