Great compilation!

The interaction between country and rhythm & blues produced many beautiful versions of well-known and lesser-known country songs.

Excellent compilation of country done different

Even though I had high hopes I was pleasantly surprised by this CD. It's filled with country done by rhythm and blues artists. There are quite a few surprising versions of well-known songs like Pistol Packin' Mama and It Makes No Difference Now. My personal favorites are a laid back, jazzy, bluesy version of Ghost Riders in the Sky and a very smooth almost jazzy version of Indian Love Call (wonderful sax playing that reminded me of Ben Webster). I only hope that the "Vol. 1" on the packaging means that this is just the start of another wonderful series!

Long overdue!

Finally!! I was hoping for it since years! This compilation includes the real country songs which were covered by Rhythm & Blues artists and Doo-Wop groups. There are other compilations on the market which completely fail with the know-how and only because a song has the term 'country' in it - that does not mean it's a country song! This is the real deal!
