Mit Folge vier setzen wir 'The Complete D Singles' auf Bear Family auf. In chronologischer Folge ist hier jede Veröffentlichung auf Pappy Dailys berühmtem Label aus Houston, Texas, erfasst. Diese vierte Box in der Reihe beginnt genau dort, wo Folge 3 mit der Katalognummer D 1159 (Sommer 1960) endete. Wie die bisherigen Folgen präsentiert auch diese 4-CD Box Dutzende frühe Honky Tonk-Aufnahmen, darunter 'klassische' Hits wie Tony Douglas' Shrimpin' und Bill Carters Shot Four Times And Dyin'. Darüber hinaus enthält diese Zusammenstellung einige fälschlicherweise zunächst ignorierte Rockabilly-Produktionen, zum Beispiel das handfeste You Take The Medicine (I'll Take The Nurse) von William Penix und das grandiose Scratchin' Off von Slim Free und die ersten Aufnahmen des späteren Country-Hitlieferanten Earl Scott; außerdem präsentieren wir die einzige Single von Scotts Bruder Jack Lionel, dessen Sohn John Batdorf später Mitglied des erfolgreichen Rock-Duos Batdorf & Rodney war. The 'D' Singles

D' Records war eines der großen Independent-Labels. Gegründet von dem in Houston ansässigen Plattenproduzenten'Pappy' Daily im Jahr 1958, hat sie einen Querschnitt der Musik aus Ost-Texas von den 1950er bis in die 1970er Jahre eingefangen. Unter den Künstlern, die für das Label aufgenommen haben, waren Willie Nelson, The Big Bopper, Claude Gray, James O' Gwynn, Eddie Noack, Bill Mack, Herb Remington, Link Davis, Tibby Edwards, Benny Barnes, Ray Campi, Floyd Tillman, George Jones und George Strait. Viele fabelhafte, aber wenig bekannte Honky Tonkers und Rock'n' Roller, die auch für'D' aufgenommen wurden. Sein Katalog ist ein großer unentdeckter Schatz.
